Examples of Good Multimedia and Bad Multimedia

Multimedia is used to emphasize the overall story that you are trying to communicate. It is very important to correctly harness the use of multimedia for your website's design.

An example of a website that correctly and efficiently used multimedia is this site from Humbolt County.

They beautifully depict what a visit to Humbolt County could entail and what they have to offer. It is truly a well-done website and it makes the user (me) want to visit!

An example of a website that I feel used multimedia poorly is this one from Penny Juice.

Penny Juice's Website

This website is designed for one of the leading Juice companies for children and somehow doesn't really feel like it's family friendly. The poor placement of the background photograph leaves you feeling slightly creeped out. The teal header is fixed, so as you scroll down the page, it stays at the top. However, the other graphics on the page don't account for this header, and so you can't see all of those graphics in the same windowpane at once.
